Palazzo Montefiore
The Palazzo spirit
Montefiore begins as an Italian name, then becomes a story of movement between Livorno, London, Mogador and Marrakech. The house continues that conversation through heritage, colour and hospitality.
Behind a discreet medina door, the patios connect the rooms, salons and moments of the day. Here, architecture is not simply decoration: it gives the stay its rhythm.
A Mediterranean history
Carried by a Sephardic family established between Italy and England, the Montefiore name directly enters Moroccan history in the nineteenth century. Not as a claimed origin, but as a bridge between the shores of the Mediterranean.
Livorno
Moses Montefiore is born in Livorno into a merchant family whose history connects Ancona, Tuscany and London.
Marrakech
At 79, Sir Moses travels from Mogador to Marrakech on a diplomatic and humanitarian mission. Received by Sultan Mohammed IV, he presents a request for justice and protection for the kingdom’s Jewish communities. The dahir of 15 February becomes its symbolic landmark.
Mogador
Stella Corcos, a Montefiore relative, founds a school for girls in Mogador. A new Moroccan chapter devoted to education and passing knowledge forward.
Montefiore literally means “flowering mountain” in Italian. For the house, the name speaks above all of a journey, an encounter and a shared memory.
Moving through the house
Palazzo reveals itself in sequences. From the pool to the rooftop, each space leads naturally to the next, creating a gentle passage from the energy of Marrakech to the calm of the house.

The green heart of the house.

Light filtering through the palms.

Tea, served naturally.

The Marrakech sky and time beginning to slow.
